Let's face it, every Christmas produces its fair share of substandard recordings. It's sadly only too easy for acts of every style to schedule a quick recording session or two and make perfunctory versions of all recorded carols and, worse, Santa songs. So it's pleasing to report that Australian brothers Joel and Luke Smallbone, otherwise known as For King & Country, have delivered a high quality five-song Christmas offering. There's a very pleasant original "Baby Boy" but the two cuts which really stand out, and got some plays on Cross Rhythms radio last year, are their clever recastings of "Angels We Have Heard On High" and "Little Drummer Boy". No doubt this will be selling well over the next few Christmases.
