Justin is a Californian singer/songwriter who aims to tell stories through his songs, mixing honesty and humour into his writing. This album, released in 2007, opens with "Movie Of My Life" an acoustic number with a country/soft rock style. This acoustic feel continues for the next few tracks, before "Undecided" changes the pace a bit with some electric guitar to give a more upbeat chorus. There is also the bluesy "Qualifications For Love", and "Running In Circles" which has a real Jeff Buckley feel to it, especially with Justin's gruff vocals, as he muses "I've been running in circles/I've been playing the game". Following in the footsteps of Jeff Buckley there is a wonderful cover of U2's "One" which McRoberts gives his own unique style to. This leads into the last three songs of the album, with "What Love Is This" focusing on God's love and how it never changes, and "Holy Ground" referring to the Moses and burning bush. The finger picked "Keep On Driving" is an apt end to the album, as it urges the listener to keep on going, even if there seems like nothing to live for or to head towards. The only thing missing perhaps from this song is the answer to the problem, but then McRoberts generally stays away from explicit references to God on this album, for better or worse. If you want an honest reflection of life, but from a Christian view point than 'Intersections' is a good place to look.
